Baiyun District is in the north of Guangzhou old city area.It is located in south of the Tropic of Cancer that has plenty of sunshine, abundant rainfall, and mild climate. Its east are  Zengcheng, Luogang ,west is the South China Sea, north are Huadu, Conghua City, south are Huangpu, Tianhe, Yuexiu, and Liwan District 4,with an area of 795.79 square kilometers.

The CDP of Baiyun District was 119.173 billion yuan in 2012, which ranked 5th among the ten districts in Guangzhou City. Baiyun District located in south of the Tropic of Cancer, with sunny, rainfall, mild, and subtropical monsoon climate. Its landscape is mainly with hills and alluvial plain characterized by wideness. Its terrain sloping is from northeast to southwest, which is an extension of Nine Mountains.Its eastern and northeastern formed contiguous high and low hills, steep hills, lush trees, and broad area of fruit trees, among which are many reservoir,ponds, lakes and mountains forming the beautiful scenery. Baiyun district dotted with many ponds and reservoirs.The Small and medium sized reservoirs are Baifen,Yaokeng,Xinpo,Shatian with total 14 ponds.The Liusha river which is located among the Southwest and Northeast, stretching 50 li. Little North River, Bainihe, Sha Beihai and other rivers along the western region import to the Pearl River.
